COVID Recurrence - Standard Protocols are Still Needed

28 August 2023

Don't let your personal opinions on COVID-19 cloud your judgment. Just follow the protocols.

COVID… AGAIN!

Whatever your PERSONAL opinion about threats/theories on an impending recurrence of masking, flight restrictions, etc.… DO NOT LET YOUR EMOTIONS IMPACT YOUR BUSINESS DECISIONS!

Over the last week, I have seen a serious uptick of clients asking about current COVID protocols for when employees test positive. There IS a resurgence in progress, and some people (possibly even your employees, family members, or especially some of your customers) are concerned about it. And both OSHA and EEOC can easily become involved if you mismanage your response to it in your business! 🤬

Currently, the COVID-19 protocol is:
  1. 5 calendar day isolation from time of symptoms or date the test was taken, whichever is earlier.
  2. Assuming symptoms are subsiding, an employee can return to work with 5 days of masking & distancing as possible.
  3. If someone tests positive, investigate potential close contact exposures over the last 2 days with the rest of the team. Close contact exposure means within 6 feet for more than 15 min in a day.
  4. Close contact response: Strict masking & distancing as possible for 10 days. Get tested on Day 5.
