What Does a BPC On-Site Visit Look Like?

What's the Deal with an On-Site Visit?

A fantastic add-on service that we offer at The Big Picture Consulting is an On-Site Visit. Unlike other business “gurus,” my goals when coming on-site do not involve stamping “my way” of doing things onto your operations. I'm not a cheerleader attempting to get the team to fall in love with me, nor a drill sergeant who is going to make you walk through fire just to make myself look/feel better.

The fundamental purpose of my visit is to secure and reinforce your managerial authority, build trust at all levels of the team, and do whatever else we come across while you have my full and undivided attention.

An On-Site Visit typically includes the following:

1. Site and operational walk-through. Full inspection as though I were all 22 divisions of the Dept of Labor, EEOC, and pretty much any other alphabet soup agency that could wander in and cause havoc.
  • Identify compliance vulnerabilities and take immediate steps towards correcting whatever is possible.
  • Discuss options on the grayer area discoveries.
2. Team Introduction and Evaluation. A low level meet-and-greet with whoever is available over the day(s) I am on site.
  • Introduce myself and place in the hierarchy, as a point of reference if/when you simply have to tell them “HR Says X, Y, Z.” It sometimes helps if the boogie man has a face!
  • Conduct Stay Interviews with employees to identify the highlights of your existing company culture, as well as opportunities for improvement as perceived by the team.
  • Thoroughly review the results and strategize immediate actions to reinforce the positives and possibly close up gaps in employee morale.
3. Systems/processes efficiency. Walking through the various stages of the employee life cycle (a live action version of my Compliance Review conversation) to witness/demonstrate employee management systems and offer guidance, training, and support as needed to maximize compliance, sustainability, and efficiency.

4. Possible Ride-Along? Evaluate safety measures in real time in real situations.

5. Possible Team Safety Training? Personally give what may be the most important Safety Training that can be given… WHY active safety awareness is important (and why the annoying parts are NOT management’s fault!).

Sound like something that could benefit your company? For BPC Retainer Clients, an On-Site Visit is only $2,800 for the first day (which includes my travel expenses) and $1,800 each additional day. I’m currently setting up travel plans for the fall so reach out to me at ian@thebigpictureconsulting.com if you want to reserve a spot!
