3 Must-Haves for an OSHA-Compliant Safety Program
A random OSHA audit or injury can cost you big-time. Here’s how to build a safety program that protects your brand.
Here are three things to remember about your safety program to stay out of hot water.
OSHA requires companies to update their Safety Manual annually, since there will undoubtably be new regulations and/or changes to your business operations.
There are 16 annually-required training topics for all companies in the Trades, just because OSHA considers you construction. There are many more that MAY be required, based on the specific industry hazards your employees are exposed to. Think forklift usage, silica dust, exposure to cold, and other environments or tools that impact some home service providers, but not others.
The policies and training will NOT protect you during an audit/investigation if you are not holding employees accountable for violations. Translation: you can't just have this stuff in writing but you need to actually enforce it.
It is MUCH more cost-effective to get and stay compliant than to deal with OSHA after an employee/customer complaint, a serious injury that draws their attention, or worst of all… you win the OSHA lottery with a random audit! 🤑🤑🤑
