Another Option for Small Business Health Benefits
Worried about Health Insurance costs in your business? You're not alone.
There's a lot of talk and worry about rising health insurance costs... both personal policies as it relates to expired government subsidies that are being battled out in DC right now, along with business policy accounts. Premium costs and deductibles keep going up at a crazy rate, and care is getting more and more sketchy.
I personally dumped traditional insurance ages ago in favor of a Health Sharing program. Participants become Cash Patients (funny how this normally results in instant 25-50% discount on services) and then get reimbursed for costs over their set share amount. It's not a perfect fit for everyone, but in my experience, it is really good for most people.
The hurdle for businesses is finding a Health Share program that is not religious based, which would be an HR no-no! But it just so happens I "know a Guy" that has a program that passes this test, and it is what I use in my own company. The program is even ACA compliant for companies over 50 employees!
You have options for what to offer to employees, including a solid preventative care benefit with reimbursements for all sorts of services, the Health Sharing program, and/or an ICHRA to fund a traditional individual insurance policy. If you want you can offer additional "wellness credits" for employees to select options like Aflac/gap insurance or more. Employees sign up for what works best for them and their family, and the employer protects the overhead costs without signing on for a one-size-fits-all health insurance plan whose rates will likely skyrocket at the start of each year. Win-Win.
